HERRGOTTSBETON

Herrgottsbeton is about the material culture of the ‘Nagelfluh’ stone nested within the river valley of the Necker in Toggenburg, Switzerland. The project relates to an old path towards a large ‘Nagelfluh’ boulder in St. Peterzell. Surface treatments on sediments and acts of care-taking interact with the ever-changing landscape of the river.

The project is currently in development and will be opened in september 2025.

The execution is developed and realized in collaboration with Enzo Valerio.

The project is organised by DOGO Residenz (CH) and curated by Johannes Reisigl.

The clients are Thur- und Neckerweg (CH)

Participating Artists:

ERBA Suzanne Bernhardt and Philipp Kolmann

Nagelfluh stone can become a substrate for plants, a growing surface

Nagelfluh is a conglomerate stone and resembles concrete - both are pebbles bound with a sandmixture

along the old path next to the river one can find both concrete and Nagelfluh

through material experimentation we learn about imitating geology

heavy rainfall in the summer changes the material course of the project

when people interact with the becoming of a place, they leave traces

testing new visual traces that tell about the continuous becoming of the river and the Nagelfluh
